Full-time, Permanent SF Recruitment is seeking a skilled Buyer to join a high-growth business based in Derby.

This role offers the chance to contribute to a dynamic procurement team within an organisation that truly values its employees.

Reporting directly to the Head of Procurement, you will take charge of purchasing raw materials, ensuring that cost, quality, and timing are all optimally balanced.

This position gives you full ownership of the procurement process for your assigned category of products and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the end-to-end procurement and supplier selection process for your allocated categories to ensure the successful delivery of sales plans.
  • Establish and maintain a supplier performance monitoring system, working closely with finance and costing teams to manage price changes.
  • Lead procurement efforts for services and capital expenditure (CAPEX) requirements.
  • Negotiate pricing and secure long-term agreements or other suitable contractual terms with suppliers.
  • Manage market analysis, tenders, sourcing, and develop clear category strategies from a global supply base.
  • Ensure suppliers comply with stringent quality and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate procurement master data records.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Manufacturing, Planning, Regulatory, and Quality departments to ensure smooth procurement operations.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience in procurement, supply chain, or buying roles, ideally within highly regulated industries.
  • Strong understanding of contractual terms and experience negotiating supplier contracts.
  • Proficiency in SAP or a comparable ERP system.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, with strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, with an eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage difficult situations and work efficiently under pressure.
