Breedon Group plc is seeking a dedicated and experienced Depot Operative to join our team at our Dewsbury Cement Depot. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth and efficient distribution of cement products via road and rail.

Your key responsibilities will encompass the operation and maintenance of bulk storage and outloading equipment, including rail offloading procedures. You will also be responsible for collecting production samples, conducting regular safety checks, and maintaining meticulous records in accordance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

This position requires a strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude, coupled with proven experience within a production environment. A commitment to safety is paramount, and you must demonstrate a proactive approach to risk assessment and mitigation.

As a Depot Operative, you will be responsible for:

  • Operating and maintaining bulk storage and outloading plant equipment
  • Performing rail offloading procedures
  • Collecting production samples and conducting analysis
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations through regular checks and record-keeping
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment through general housekeeping and first-line maintenance duties
  • Collaborating with the Admin Supervisor on warehouse-related issues
  • Providing exceptional customer service by completing all functions to the highest standards
  • Verifying documentation and physically inspecting loads before departure
  • Conducting stocktaking and maintaining a high standard of site presentation
