Company Overview:

A prominent Tier 1 Main Contractor with a strong presence in the Essex region is seeking a Lead Quantity Surveyor to oversee the procurement process for multiple significant projects.

This role represents a newly established specialization within the organization, focusing primarily on the two-stage procurement process for the upcoming 2025/26 project pipeline.


Our client boasts a robust order book, particularly within the local market, spanning various sectors such as Education, Healthcare, Commercial, Mixed-Use, MOD, and Residential, with project values reaching up to £100m.

The successful applicant will be responsible for:
  • Cost estimation and budgeting
  • Collaboration with internal teams including design, estimating, planning, and bid management
  • Developing procurement strategies for packages from order to site commencement
  • Engaging with subcontractors and the supply chain to ensure timely submission of quotes/pricing
  • Evaluating and reviewing subcontractor proposals in accordance with project specifications
Throughout the process, the candidate will promote a culture of collaboration and foster long-term relationships with the supply chain partners.

**Essential Experience:**
Experience in two-stage procurement projects is crucial for this role. Candidates should possess a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a Main Contractor environment, with a stable career history and experience in New Build projects valued over £20m.
Strong negotiation skills and a proven track record in subcontractor procurement are required.

Previous Roles:

Candidates may have held positions such as Managing Quantity Surveyor, Senior Quantity Surveyor, Project Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager, Senior Cost Manager, or Pre-Contract Surveyor.


Qualifications & Skills:
A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or an equivalent qualification such as HNC, BTEC, NVQ, or MSc is required.
