Job Title: Infrastructure Engineer

Salary: £34,524 - £35,712
Hours of work: 37 hours per week

This organisation operates as a cross-border entity dedicated to the management, maintenance, development, and restoration of an extensive network of inland navigable waterways, Greenways, and Blueways throughout the island of Ireland. With an emphasis on recreational use, the organisation oversees a diverse range of infrastructure assets, including navigation channels, towpaths, harbours, bridges, locks, and more.

The Engineer will be part of a well-established engineering team based in Enniskillen, engaging in projects across Ireland. This role encompasses supporting the development, design, and construction of new projects as well as refurbishments related to the inland waterway system, from initial feasibility through to final completion.

Key Responsibilities:Civil and Structural Design:
  • Conduct surveys, inspections, and evaluations of potential projects, followed by comprehensive report writing.
  • Prepare feasibility studies, designs, drawings, tenders, and contract documentation.
  • Oversee site operations.
  • Contribute to the execution of capital works and maintenance programs.
  • Assist in managing and monitoring projects within budget, ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards.

Environmental Management:
  • Collaborate with environmental agencies to establish environmental requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and directives in project designs.

Health and Safety:
  • Understand relevant health, safety, and welfare legislation and ensure compliance in all activities.
  • Adhere to the organisation's Health and Safety policy.
  • Integrate health and safety considerations into project designs.

Strategic Contributions:
  • Assist in the development and implementation of organisational policies, strategies, and standards.
  • Provide information for financial and progress reporting on projects under your control.

Teamwork and Communication:
  • Work effectively with engineering team members and supervise staff when necessary.
  • Foster productive working relationships both internally and externally.
  • Liaise with other sections within the organisation, as well as with community, local organisations, and statutory authorities.

General Duties:
  • Handle tasks assigned by Senior Management and the Chief Executive.
  • Address queries forwarded to the organisation.
  • Represent the organisation at meetings/functions during and outside normal working hours.
  • Undertake required training and promote organisational policies on equality.
