Position Title: Combat Systems Support Engineer

Location: Broad Oak, Portsmouth with occasional travel involved

Compensation: Up to £41,000 based on skills and experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance for operational defects and system challenges promptly through site visits.
  • Deliver technical support via various communication channels for the in-service Combat Management System (CMS) and Shared Infrastructure (SI) product lines.
  • Prepare CMS and SI hardware/software configurations for ship installations and commissioning across all supported Royal Navy platforms.
  • Diagnose and repair faulty hardware to ensure adequate stock levels.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Candidates should hold an academic degree in Engineering or related STEM fields, along with specific qualifications (academic or professional).
  • Recognition by a relevant professional institution is essential (candidates are encouraged and supported to attain the necessary accreditation, with preference given to those already registered).
  • Experience with COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) hardware/software, particularly with Shared Infrastructure and PC technology.
  • Willingness to travel for support tasks both domestically and internationally.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the engineering or defense sectors.
  • Familiarity with a Naval Combat Systems Environment, ideally CMS or SI.

All engineers should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or related STEM disciplines, as well as specific qualifications, and aim to be recognized as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through a relevant professional institution. Support will be provided for achieving the necessary accreditation, with preference for candidates who are already professionally registered.
