Position Overview

The individual in this position will work closely with operational teams and corporate divisions to foster a culture of risk awareness within the organization. The successful candidate will serve as a positive example within the team, possessing a comprehensive understanding of risk management principles and assurance practices. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently.

Hywel Dda University Health Board is responsible for planning and delivering NHS healthcare services across multiple counties. Our dedicated workforce provides a wide range of services, including primary care, community health, and specialized services, to a diverse population.

Job Requirements

This position is classified as Band 6. Candidates should ideally possess the Institute of Risk Management (IRM) Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management, along with relevant experience. However, we encourage applications from individuals who are willing to obtain this qualification within a specified timeframe upon appointment.

Successful candidates will receive support through a development plan, with initial compensation set at a percentage of the Band 6 pay scale. Upon successful completion of the required qualification and development plan, the individual will transition to the minimum point of Band 6 pay. Ongoing support and supervision will be provided to facilitate professional growth.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is preferred for this role, and we welcome applications from both Welsh and English speakers.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience in risk management and assurance within a healthcare or large organizational context.
  • Experience in delivering training programs related to risk and assurance.
  • Ability to prepare formal reports for committees and present findings to management.
  • Experience in prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in developing procedural documentation and guidance.
  • Collaborative experience across various services and departments.

Qualifications and Knowledge

  • Degree-level education or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development in risk management.
  • Specialized knowledge of risk and assurance practices.
  • Understanding of corporate governance frameworks and assurance systems.
  • Familiarity with risk management processes, including risk appetite and tolerance.
  • Working knowledge of risk information management systems.

Language Skills

Welsh language skills are desirable for this position, and support will be provided to help candidates meet these requirements during their employment.
