About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Manager to join our Children and Families team at Essex County Council. As a Team Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of social workers and providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to children and families.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience of working with children and young people, particularly those with complex needs, and will have a strong understanding of relevant legislation and evidence-informed practice. You will be an excellent communicator and will have the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of social workers and provide guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to children and families.
  • Coordinate the nomination forum and select a cohort of children for the SHiFT programme.
  • Work directly with one child and their family, providing support and guidance to ensure the best possible outcomes.
  • Model excellence in social work practice and commit to anti-racist practices.
  • Collaborate with multi-agency networks to drive system change and improve outcomes for children.
  • Provide high-quality oversight and guidance to social workers, ensuring compliance with Essex County Council's Children and Families Service and SHiFT practice standards.
  • Safeguard children and families by following Essex County Council's Children and Families Service and SHiFT procedures.
  • Lead decision-making and manage personal budgets for each child, ensuring spending aligns with SHiFT and Essex County Council guidelines.
  • Contribute to programme governance and provide progress updates.
Requirements
  • A qualified and registered Social Worker.
  • Extensive experience of working with children and young people, particularly those with complex needs.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation and evidence-informed practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Confident in analysing data and articulating analysis.
