We are in search of a Senior Spatial Planning Consultant to integrate into our dynamic team of planners and economists. This role is pivotal in supporting our initiatives aimed at unlocking the potential of the Northern regions of England. The successful candidate will work closely with market teams to drive the Planning, Environmental Consenting, and Communities sectors, facilitating opportunities for sustainable development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct strategic planning and policy formulation, including assessments of development viability, local plan support, and infrastructure delivery studies.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leading or assisting in tender submissions.
  • Foster client relationships and collaborate with colleagues to secure projects.
  • Oversee project contributions from various disciplines within the firm.
  • Provide strategic and policy planning advice to both external and internal clients.
  • Engage in traditional Development Management and Major Infrastructure projects.
  • Manage client communications, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Build and maintain relationships within the organization to enhance market positioning and ensure high-quality project delivery.
  • Oversee financial management of projects.
  • Mentor junior staff to develop national capabilities within the team.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Town Planning and Chartered membership of the RTPI.
  • Approximately 10 years of relevant experience, including successful management of multi-disciplinary projects.
  • A strong passion for urbanism and placemaking.
  • Proficient client-facing skills with a focus on early engagement and collaboration.
  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments to broker effective solutions.
  • Experience in strategic and spatial planning within the UK context.
  • In-depth knowledge of planning legislation and procedures.
  • Proven track record in managing budgets and delivering projects on time.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills, capable of prioritizing tasks effectively under pressure.
  • Self-motivated and resilient, with a capacity to inspire others.
