Security Analyst – York – SOC Background Required

Interface Recruitment UK is seeking a skilled Security Analyst to join our client's team. As a Security Analyst, you will play a critical role in monitoring and analyzing security events, alarms, and escalations through the SIEM system. Your primary responsibility will be to investigate and respond to security incidents, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of our client's systems and data.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Monitor SIEM tools for security alerts, conducting thorough investigations and proposing remedial actions.
  2. Tune SIEM security rulesets to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
  3. Perform vulnerability scans and utilize compliance tools to identify vulnerabilities in system configuration.
  4. Actively monitor security tools, including anti-malware, mail filter, web filter, IDS/IPS, and firewalls.
  5. Prepare and submit regular security reports to stakeholders.
  6. Stay up-to-date with the threat landscape, identifying and reporting potential security issues.
  7. Maintain relevant vendor accreditations and certifications.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a SOC environment.
  2. SIEM administration and configuration experience.
  3. Strong security management and analytics background.
  4. Experience with security tool configuration, including IDS/IPS and firewalls.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  1. IBM QRadar, LogRhythm, and/or Splunk experience.
  2. Linux, Mac, and Windows administration skills.
  3. Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) certification.
  4. CISSP certification.
  5. IT security products knowledge.
  6. MSc in Computer Science or related field.
