As a member of a highly skilled team, the Band 2 will play a vital role in the operational management of the Intensive Care Unit by ensuring adequate stock levels, preparing equipment trolleys, and maintaining the cleanliness of the Unit and its equipment.
The successful candidate will engage in a competency-based training program.
Main Responsibilities
Operational Duties:
- Restocking of patient areas
- Daily sanitation of patient areas and post-discharge cleaning
- Preparation of patient areas for new admissions
- Setting up procedure trolleys
- Management of equipment and storage areas

Job Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Actively contribute to maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Be familiar with the reporting procedures for accidents and incidents, and report any occurrences to the nurse in charge immediately.
- Know the locations of all emergency and resuscitation equipment.
- Ensure adequate stock levels and communicate any issues to the appropriate staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in clinical and storage areas to minimize infection risks.
- Ensure that all unused equipment is clean, labeled, and stored properly.
- Notify the nurse in charge of any equipment requiring maintenance or repair.
- Assist with basic patient care needs under the supervision of a qualified nurse.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Prepare and set up trolleys for invasive procedures.
- Assist in the transfer of critically ill patients by managing necessary documentation.
- Handle body fluids and soiled linen appropriately.
- Contribute to the introduction and implementation of new ideas in the ICU/HDU.
- Safeguard patients' property in accordance with Trust Policy.
- Support the Critical Care Outreach Team as needed.
- Check work emails and utilize Trust IT systems as required.

Education and Development Responsibilities:
- Attend mandatory training and complete e-learning as required.

- Assist newly appointed staff within the scope of the role.
- Complete the Care Certificate within the first six months of employment.
