About Us

London Live is a dynamic broadcaster available on various platforms, including Freeview Channel 8, Sky 117, and Virgin 159. We deliver a diverse range of original entertainment, live events, and documentaries, complemented by an hour of live news each day.

Our target audience is modern and urban, reflecting the vibrant spirit of London. We understand the challenges of city life but remain optimistic about the potential for success. We take pride in showcasing fresh talent, both in front of and behind the camera, with all content produced in London.

This position is part of the London Live News Team, contributing to the creation of news and current affairs content while also managing studio rentals for external clients. You will serve as the primary contact for all IT and technical inquiries.

Job Purpose

This pivotal role within our News team involves working both in the office/studio and remotely. You will engage in all phases of the production process, from brainstorming story ideas to filming, interviewing, writing scripts, and editing final segments. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with some industry experience who wish to enhance their skills. Opportunities for on-screen reporting and possibly producing the News at Six program may also be available.

About You

  • A skilled broadcast journalist with a relevant qualification in journalism.
  • Experience in a newsroom setting with a comprehensive understanding of media law and ethics.
  • A proactive individual full of ideas and suggestions for stories and guests.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to produce video content and scripts for various media channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in pitching, planning, and booking guests for upcoming shows, making editorial decisions that resonate with our audience.
  • Conduct remote and in-person interviews for broadcast on television or social media.
  • Self-shoot and edit short-form content for TV and social platforms using video editing software.
  • Adhere to and promote London Live's core values in all work.

Skills and Experience

  • A graduate or postgraduate qualification in journalism with a solid grasp of media law and Ofcom regulations, with a minimum of two years of experience preferred.
  • A proven history of producing edited packages for television broadcast.
  • Highly skilled in using Premiere Pro or similar video editing tools.
  • Good knowledge of London and current local news trends, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Excellent writing abilities and a strong understanding of news production processes.
  • Experience in filming with point-and-shoot or DSLR cameras and video editing.
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for collaboration.
  • A good broadcast voice or prior on-camera experience is advantageous.
