Utility Survey Technician Apprentice

RSK Group is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious individual to join our SafeGround team as a Utility Survey Technician Apprentice. This exciting opportunity will provide the successful candidate with the chance to develop their skills and knowledge in the utility surveying industry, while working towards a Level 3 Geospatial Survey Technician Apprenticeship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist our Utility Surveyors in utility detection and mapping, utilizing electro-magnetic locators, Ground Penetrating Radar, and topographical GPS equipment.
  • Complete site documentation for site work crews, including Risk Assessments and Method Statements.
  • Understand desk-based service plans provided by statutory service providers.
  • Learn to write reports for projects.
  • Undertake other activities required to help our utility surveyors complete their works.
  • Learn technical knowledge to further develop into a utility surveying career.
  • Other duties may include organizing equipment and storeroom, van checks, and maintaining equipment.

Requirements:

  • Strong written and verbal English skills.
  • GCSEs in Mathematics and English.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK at the time of joining.
  • Hardworking, flexible, and conscientious.
  • Good timekeeping, a keen attitude to work, and an ability to listen to and follow instructions.
  • Strong work ethic and desire to learn new skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence with requirement to drive vans and 4x4 vehicles.
  • Reasonable IT Skills.
  • Flexibility of working away from home and requirement to work out of hours on a project-by-project basis.
  • Five GCSEs grades 9-4 (A*-C) including Maths & English.
