Animal Care Assistant

We are partnering with a Local Authority in Waltham Forest to support the appointment of an Animal Care Assistant on a 3-month contract, with a high likelihood of extension at the client's discretion. Please submit your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: £12.25 - £15.14 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the health and well-being of dogs in kennels and during transportation
  • Animal welfare and cleanliness of kennels
  • Awareness of reportable or communicable diseases
  • Transportation of dogs
  • Interacting with members of the public and handling confrontations
  • Reporting defects to vehicles and equipment
  • Adapting to a shift pattern, including evenings and weekends, with flexibility to adjust according to service requirements

Requirements:

  • Valid driving license and own transport
  • Experience working in kennels environments in various weather conditions
  • Experience handling aggressive and dangerous dogs
  • Working knowledge of the Animal Welfare Act and the Dangerous Dogs Act
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

Important Notes:

  • Availability to start immediately or on short notice is required
  • Right to work in the UK is necessary
