About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Accounting and Financial Operations to join our team at Primer. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for building and scaling our accounting function, implementing financial processes and systems, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting.

This is a pivotal role that requires a strong understanding of financial operations, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with our leadership team to develop and implement financial strategies that support our business growth and objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a high-performing accounting team to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting
  • Develop and implement financial processes and systems to support business growth and objectives
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and laws, including UK GAAP and IFRS
  • Manage and analyze financial data to inform business decisions and drive growth
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement financial strategies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including auditors and tax authorities
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in financial regulations and laws, and ensure compliance

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in financial operations, accounting, or a related field
  • Big 4 experience in audit, accounting, and risk reviews
  • Previous experience with VAT and tax compliance activities
  • Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) and strong understanding of IFRS
  • Led accounting teams in a multi-location setup and experience working in a dynamic business environment
  • Experience in building and scaling new teams, fully remote from the ground-up
  • Experience in rolling out and working with finance systems (e.g. NetSuite)
  • Acute eye for detail and high working standards
  • High integrity and natural desire to assume responsibility
  • Approachable and confident personality type, comfortable within a wide range of organizational environments
