Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting one of the UK's leading housebuilders, operating from 30 regional offices and delivering around 15,000 new homes each year.
The Opportunity:
Penguin Recruitment is seeking a dynamic and self-motivated Urban Development Planner/Senior Urban Development Planner to join a busy Planning Team, covering the Suffolk area. This role offers the chance to manage residential-led developments of varying scales and complexity, from identifying new development opportunities to securing planning permissions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and assess new development opportunities.
- Prepare and submit planning applications, including supporting documents like Design and Access Statements.
- Manage the promotion of sites through Local Plans, including writing representations.
- Project manage consultants and design teams, ensuring successful negotiation with Local Authorities and statutory consultees.
- Organise and lead consultation events, presenting to Town and Parish Councils and planning committees.
- Handle planning appeals, discharge of planning conditions, and non-material amendments.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience: Previous experience in a similar role in the Private Sector or Local Authority.
- Qualifications: Degree qualified, RTPI qualified, or working towards it, with a comprehensive understanding of planning.
- Skills: Strong communication, project management, and negotiation skills, with commercial awareness and the ability to work under pressure.
- Attributes: Self-motivated, ambitious, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Flexibility and a willingness to learn are essential.
