EP UK Investments Ltd is seeking a skilled Intraday Gas & Power Trader to join our expanding 24/7 trading team. This role involves executing trading strategies in wholesale energy markets, optimizing thermal generation plant revenue, and supporting various business functions within the company.

High performers within the intraday team have the opportunity to rotate into day-ahead and forward trading roles, broadening their exposure to the market. Analytical rotation roles and projects are also available for individuals with the required technical skill set.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Trading: Execute trades in intraday gas and power markets to minimize imbalance exposure and maximize profitability.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively as part of a 24/7 operations team, demonstrating initiative while contributing to a collaborative environment.
  • Strategy: Develop and implement short-term trading strategies to optimize generation output and revenue streams.
  • Dispatch: Manage portfolio dispatching to capture gross margin and operate within established credit guidelines.
  • Risk Management: Proactively manage contracted positions to avoid volatile imbalance charges and mitigate potential financial risks.
  • Coordination: Strategically plan short-term outages to minimize commercial impact on the business.
  • Compliance: Uphold power market license conditions and adhere to Trading Guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Support: Provide assistance to stakeholders across various departments and contribute to the overall growth of the company.
  • Performance: Consistently meet individual and team targets using key performance metrics to drive success.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise:

Background:

  • Proven experience in energy trading and/or operations disciplines within the industry.
  • Industry experience as an energy market analyst with a strong understanding of European gas, power, and emissions trading.
  • In-depth knowledge of National Grid Electricity System Operator services and codes governing the energy sector.
  • Proficiency in IT skills such as Python, SQL, and VBA for data analysis and automation.
