Complex Needs Teaching Assistant Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Primary School in Hull. As a Complex Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting two pupils with complex needs and disabilities, providing them with the individualized support they need to succeed in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-to-one support to pupils with complex needs and disabilities
  • Help pupils develop their independence and confidence
  • Work closely with the class teacher and other support staff to ensure pupils receive every opportunity to reach their full potential
  • Manage medical needs, including keto training and epilepsy training
  • Use a specifically designed framework, such as the Autism Education Trust Early Year Progression Framework, to support pupil development
  • Deliver social skills intervention, focusing on early friendship skills such as turn-taking and cooperation
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, specifically those with complex needs
  • Background within the care sector
  • Compassionate and patient approach, with a commitment to making a positive difference in the life of the pupil
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong understanding of current SEND legislation and best practices
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
