Overview of the Position

We are thrilled to announce a fantastic opportunity for a Site Engineering Specialist to become part of our construction teams on a significant multi-substation initiative. The primary responsibilities will encompass overseeing site engineering operations and the execution of tasks on-site, which includes tracking and reporting on the advancement of the design and construction of multiple indoor substations, along with the necessary earthworks, drainage systems, access routes, structures, and utilities.

In light of recent project awards, we also have additional roles available across various locations in our civil engineering, highway, and major construction teams.

Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Environmental Management

Development of Task Briefing Sheets Contribution to the creation of Permit to Dig documents, including workforce briefings Conducting relevant briefings Performing Safety Inspections Identifying hazards and assisting in the formulation of Safe Systems of Work

Engineering Oversight

Setting out from primary control established by others Providing sketches that detail the setting out information Maintaining survey equipment, including equipment registers and testing schedules Interpreting information from drawings, schedules, and specifications

Quality Assurance

Generating as-built drawings and records for all project elements, ensuring timely completion of Quality Check Sheets and handover documentation Keeping accurate records, including Daily Diaries, photographs, and notes from site discussions

Productivity Monitoring

Measuring actual material usage and reconciling with theoretical estimates, reporting and investigating discrepancies Adhering to the Weekly Programme and marking progress achieved Contributing to the collection of data for Key Performance Indicators, including explanations for variances

Commercial Responsibilities

Maintaining an accurate daily diary of resources, including labor, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and outputs Producing weekly measurements, take-offs, and accurate material schedules, ensuring clear requisitions and tracking through to delivery Understanding what constitutes additional work and how to document it

Familiarity with actual resource levels versus budget and reporting on discrepancies

Commercial Acumen

Knowledge of specifications and contract documents Understanding of what constitutes additional works

The following qualities and experience are desirable:

Knowledge of the construction process in areas such as Earthworks, Drainage, Pavement, Structures, and Roadworks Developing leadership skills Actively pursuing professional accreditation (e.g., ICE, IHT)
