About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Systems Accountant to join our team at Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our finance function, you will be responsible for providing IT and finance support to ensure the smooth operation of our finance and procurement systems.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in finance and IT, with experience of managing and maintaining financial systems, including e-Financials. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of our financial data systems and providing support to staff across the organization.

This is a customer-facing role, requiring excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will work closely with our IT department to ensure that our finance systems are up-to-date and fit-for-purpose.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain financial systems, including e-Financials
  • Ensure the integrity of our financial data systems
  • Provide IT and finance support to staff across the organization

  • Develop and implement system changes to improve finance and procurement processes
Person Specification
  • Educated to degree level
  • Good accounting knowledge (NVQ level 5 / AAT / Other professional body)
  • 3 Years NHS Financial Services and Systems experience in the NHS or equivalent large organization
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of building and using databases, preferably Oracle, SQL, and MS Access
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of reporting tools, preferably Power BI and Business Objects
  • An ability to analyze complex financial and performance data and draw appropriate conclusions
  • Experience of change management in relation to system and/or process change
  • A good communicator with an ability to work effectively with all levels of staff
  • In-depth experience of Financial Software, preferably within the NHS
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of using non-finance systems including stock management and procurement packages
  • Use of software applications such as MS Office solutions, Power Query, Power Automate
