Position Title: Specialist Assessor for SEND and Exam Accommodations

Employment Type: Full-time (37 hours per week, all year round)

Salary: Up to £31,413 per annum (Dependent on qualifications and experience) + benefits

Location: RNN Group

Role Overview: The primary responsibility of this position is to assist learners with additional educational needs, including those with identified Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the Additional Learning Support Team, reporting directly to the Additional Learning Support (ALS) Team Leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with learners, their families, educational institutions, colleagues, and external organizations to evaluate, identify, and formulate tailored support strategies for individuals facing learning challenges.
  • Implement specialized exam accommodations to ensure that learners who require assistance receive the necessary provisions during assessments.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of SEND and related challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to show empathy and adaptability to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Familiarity with the SEND Code of Practice and the responsibilities of mainstream Further Education providers, alongside a comprehensive understanding of the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations regarding exam accommodations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including ALS team members, examination personnel, curriculum staff, and other relevant professionals.
  • Possession of qualifications in English and Mathematics at Level 2 (GCSE or equivalent), a specialist SEND qualification, and a Certificate in Psychometric Testing, Assessment and Access Arrangements (CPT3A or equivalent) to fulfill JCQ requirements.
  • Commitment to maintaining respect, sensitivity, and confidentiality in all interactions.

Department Information: The Specialist Assessor will report to the ALS Team Leader and work closely with colleagues within the ALS and broader Student Support teams.
