Job Description

Role Overview

The HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join the Fraud Investigation Service (FIS) as an Investigation Officer in the Strategic Exports and Sanctions Enforcement Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex investigations into breaches of UK export controls and sanctions legislation.
  • Work closely with a team of 60+ individuals to detect and disrupt illicit attempts to procure strategic goods from the UK.
  • Prepare and present high-quality case reports and evidential bundles for submission to the relevant prosecutor.
  • Undertake operational activities such as search of premises, seizure of goods, and detention of goods.
  • Deliver briefing and de-briefing activities to identify improvements and best practice.

Requirements

  • Confident communicator with good verbal and written skills.
  • Resilient, dedicated, and flexible, prepared to deal with challenge and/or confrontation.

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must undergo and pass HM Government Baseline Personnel Standard (BPSS) basic security checks to start. They must also consider that they may be asked to be put forward to obtain Developed Vetting.

Flexibility Payment

This post attracts a Level 2 Flexibility Payment (FP) that is paid monthly with salary. This FP allows HMRC flexibility to change your work pattern, at short notice, to meet business needs.
