Tarmac is committed to creating a dynamic and inclusive environment, and we're looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Foreperson - Road Planing to join our team in Thatcham, Berkshire.
Role ResponsibilityAs the Foreperson - Road Planing, you will report directly to the Supervisor - Road Planing and be responsible for:
- Managing machine, vehicle, and colleagues, ensuring they are properly informed and equipped to carry out tasks.
- Operating a Caterpillar 2 mtr planer or being willing to train on conversion to this planer.
- Ensuring employees have relevant proof of identification and competency, and that all operatives and sub-contractors are trained and authorised to undertake their duties.
- Managing and complying with all safety requirements, company standards, and procedures for employees and sub-contractors.
- Completing site-specific documentation, including site record sheets and environmental assessments.
- Attending site-specific inductions and briefings prior to starting work.
- Encouraging challenges of safety issues and reporting them using the Safety Observation, Near Hit/Miss process.
- Ensuring environmental processes and best practice across the contract.
We're looking for a candidate with:
- Essential experience using a road planer, ideally a Caterpillar 2mtr.
- CSCS Qualification.
- NVQ level 2 in a related discipline.
- MPQC/EPIC Competency Card.
- Understanding of surfacing methods and knowledge of planing machine capabilities.
- Developing People skills, including helping develop operatives to become multi-skilled.
- Flexibility and ability to change approach in line with new priorities.
- Thinking Skills, including considering all potential causes and underlying causes of a problem.
It's essential that the successful candidate has previous working experience in this sector and holds a Full UK manual car driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
