Laboratory Technician

GMP Recruitment is proud to partner with a leading international manufacturer in Worcester, UK.
We are working with them to recruit a Laboratory Technician to join their team on a full-time, permanent contract.
This role offers a competitive salary up to £27,000 and a 37.5-hour workweek, Monday to Friday.
The successful candidate will be responsible for macrostructure assessments, thermal processing, and laboratory furnace operation.
To be considered, candidates must have a degree in Metallurgy/Materials Science or relevant experience.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong time management, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for:
- Progressing parts/samples through laboratory and to sub-contractors as required
- Macrostructure assessment and reporting for production, investigation, and validation purposes
- Completion of metallurgical assessment of surface degradation and HIP closure samples
- Review of thermal processing documentation
- Ensuring specimens, documentation, and files are correctly identified and stored
- Checking stock levels and ordering as required
- Maintaining Lab Heat Treatment furnaces and ensuring bars/samples are processed within agreed timescales
- Maintaining and improving Lab 6S standards
- Maintaining Lab equipment
- Providing training to Lab personnel when required
The ideal candidate will have:
- Preferably a degree in Metallurgy/Materials Science or relevant experience
- Competent in using Microsoft Office packages
- Ideally have technical knowledge of lost wax casting process, thermal processing, and Ni & Co base superalloys
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong time management and ability to work to tight deadlines
- Ability to streamline processes and reporting for optimised efficiency
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team
