Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the Assembly Supervisor is accountable for the SQCDP (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People) metrics within their designated area. This role involves overseeing a team of leaders who assist in achieving critical milestones and key performance indicators (KPIs).
The Assembly Supervisor will provide direction to the team, aiding team leaders in managing workloads, addressing challenges, and ensuring adherence to quality standards while promoting a safe work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with project timelines and key delivery milestones.
- Maintain adherence to allocated project budgets.
- Manage all technical documentation within the production setting.
- Lead production meetings with essential internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the planning department to meet delivery targets.
- Assist the Production Manager in conducting interviews as necessary.
- Promote a safe working culture through safety coaching, accident reporting, root cause analysis, and implementing preventive measures.
- Ensure strict compliance with 5S practices.
- Uphold adherence to all local policies and procedures.
- Foster a relationship of mutual trust with the team; honor commitments and promises.
- Delegate tasks effectively, providing clear instructions and ensuring team members understand their responsibilities.
- Encourage team members to propose ideas and provide support, learning from both successes and setbacks.
- Actively participate in and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Serve as a facilitator, providing positive leadership during business challenges.
- Support Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) reviews to identify opportunities for optimizing design for production.
Qualifications:
- Expertise in manufacturing and assembly processes and techniques.
- Understanding of production methodologies and processes.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and related design data.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
- IT proficiency, including Word, Excel, and MRP & Microsoft Projects.
- Management skills with the ability to lead and communicate effectively with individuals or teams.
- Capability to identify root causes of issues and propose viable solutions; recognize patterns in data.
Education:
- City and Guilds Apprenticeship or equivalent in Vehicle Body Building, Mechanical Fitting, or a Manufacturing and Assembly Qualification.
- IOSH Managing Safely certification is preferred, though training may be provided.
Experience:
- Experience in vehicle body building, mechanical fitting, or a related trade.
- Competence in planning methods and skills.
- Experience in leading a team, including team leaders.
Additional Requirements:
- This position requires full-time on-site presence.
- Occasional travel may be necessary.
- Flexibility may be required to meet project demands.
