Accounting Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Manager to join our team at Poundland. As a key member of our Financial Accounts team, you will be responsible for leading a small number of colleagues and contributing to the success of our business.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, with experience in leading teams and managing financial processes. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial data, as well as providing strategic financial guidance to our business leaders.
As a Financial Manager at Poundland, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of financial projects, including financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting. You will also be responsible for managing our financial systems and processes, including our Oracle Finance system.
We are looking for a highly motivated and organized individual who is able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be a strong communicator and team player, with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues at all levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a small number of colleagues in the Financial Accounts team
- Support the introduction of store level profit & loss accounts
- Take responsibility for the output of a number of key Profit and Loss Accounts
- Take ownership for a number of critical Balance Sheet reconciliations
- Ensure that Balance Sheet control accounts are fully reconciled and that risks and opportunities are quantified and reported on a monthly basis
- Support the continued optimisation of the Oracle Finance system
- Management of the sales ledger
- Month end accruals and prepayments
- Monthly, quarterly and annual Group reporting
- Support on company VAT returns
- Balance sheet variance analysis, investigation and resolution
- Support for strategic initiatives
- Business partnering a number of key stakeholders across both Finance and outside of Finance
Requirements:
- Professional Qualification e.g. CIMA, ACCA, ACA
- Oracle Fusion experience advantageous
- Excellent interpersonal skills to forge positive working relationships
- Ability to work logically, consistently and accurately
- Robust modelling and analytical skills
- Ability to lead annual audit processes and deliver robust and timely month-ends
