Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work on a 1-2-1 basis with a student who presents challenging behaviour in a mainstream Year 3 class at a Primary School based in Treorchy.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide personalised academic support to the student, tailored to their individual learning style and pace.
- Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour effectively, promoting positive interactions and emotional regulation.
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where the student feels valued, respected, and safe.
- Monitor and track the student's progress, adjusting teaching strategies and interventions as needed to ensure continuous improvement.
- Communicate regularly with parents, providing updates on the student's academic and social development, as well as strategies for support at home.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to promote consistency and cohesion in the student's educational experience
Requirements:
- Experience building rapport with pupils with ALN and challenging behaviour on a 1-2-1 basis.
- Have a positive, energetic & patient mindset
- Proven experience working with students with challenging behaviour, preferably in a 1-2-1 setting
- Strong understanding of child development and learning theories.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Patience, empathy, and resilience in working with diverse student populations
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of each student
