Estate Biodiversity Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Estate Biodiversity Manager to join our team at Chester Zoo, a leading conservation and education centre in the UK. As a key member of our professional team, you will play a crucial role in promoting UK native species and habitats across the zoo Estate.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the planning, development, and delivery of our ambitious strategic target to have 30% of our land protected and managed for UK biodiversity by 2030. This will involve creating new habitats and managing existing ones to improve their conservation value.
You will also be responsible for ensuring robust monitoring to inform management decisions and demonstrate conservation impact. Additionally, you will manage the delivery of on-site activities, including control of contractors, project management, and ensuring robust health and safety processes.
As a collaborative team player, you will work closely with other zoo teams to deliver on-site UK biodiversity activities and develop opportunities to utilise biodiversity areas to support activities such as training, volunteering, and public engagement.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in conservation and ecology, with experience in land management and biodiversity conservation. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong organisational and project management skills.
About the PackageWe offer a competitive salary of £38,952.52 per annum, as well as a range of benefits including 33 days annual leave, a staff pass, and multiple complimentary tickets for friends and family.
