About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Security Engineer to join our team at VeeRteq Solutions Inc. as a Technical Specialist. This is a critical role in implementing and maintaining database activity monitoring, sensitive data discovery, data loss prevention, and data at rest encryption controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement database activity monitoring, sensitive data discovery, data loss prevention, and data at rest encryption controls to ensure the security and integrity of our clients' data.
  • Identify applications transmitting sensitive data and assess existing controls for protection to prevent data breaches and cyber threats.
  • Collaborate with Client Information Security SMEs and project team members to ensure seamless integration and effective implementation of security controls.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and runbooks based on best practices to ensure consistency and efficiency in security operations.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for scope refinement, work breakdown structure, and time estimation meetings to ensure accurate project planning and execution.
  • Contribute to operational performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of security controls and identify areas for improvement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve product issues and defects with vendors to ensure minimal downtime and maximum security.
  • Provide status updates to Cyber Security management, including program and project management staff, to ensure transparency and accountability.
Mandatory Skills
  • 8+ years of relevant business and systems subject matter expertise, especially in data security, data encryption, data discovery, and data loss prevention.
  • Proven experience supporting data security and/or security projects as a Lead Engineer.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in business process analysis, workflow, task analysis, user acceptance testing, and requirements analysis.
  • Proven ability to engineer and design solutions for IBM Guardium DAM, Guardium VA, and Guardium GDE.
  • Experience administering IBM Guardium, IBM Guardium Data Encryption, or Vormetric and DLP tools.
  • Attention to detail and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build consensus and agreement and resolve contentious issues and entrenched interests.
  • Demonstrated successful use of Agile and/or Waterfall SDLC methodology.
  • Understanding of industry-standard Business Analysis Best Practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of Office tools, including Word, Excel, Project, and Visio.
Preferred Skills
  • Strong experience with security information and event management (SIEM).
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues under stress while maintaining relationships.
  • Experience with Requirements Management tools.
  • Experience with the healthcare insurance industry, especially top healthcare industry plans.
Educational Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or relevant work experience in data security engineering and operations.
