Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Electronics and Embedded Systems Engineer to join our innovative team in Derby. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both analogue and digital electronics, with expertise in microcontroller and PLC programming, PCB design, and electronics-based prototyping/product development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analog and Digital Electronics:
    • Conceptualise, design, develop, and test analogue and digital circuits.
    • Analyse and troubleshoot electronic circuits to ensure optimal performance.
  • Microcontroller, Microprocessor, and PLC Programming:
    • Program microcontrollers and microprocessors, with a focus on PIC programming, Arduino, ESP32, etc.
    • Develop and optimise embedded software in C, C++, C#, and Python.
    • Proficiency in programming PLCs using languages such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram, and Instruction List.
    • Experience with various PLC brands (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Schneider Electric, Mitsubishi, etc.).
  • Prototyping and Testing:
    • Develop and test electronic prototypes, ensuring they meet design specifications.
    • Design and develop battery-operated as well as mains-powered electronic systems.
    • Perform soldering tasks for both surface-mount and through-hole components.
    • Ensure reliable and secure data transmission across different platforms.
  • Project Management:
    • Lead and manage technical projects from concept through to completion.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet project milestones and deadlines.
    • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
    • Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, user manuals, and test reports.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in analogue and digital electronics design and troubleshooting.
  • Proficient in PLC, PIC programming, and microcontroller/microprocessor software development.
  • Hands-on experience with electronics prototyping, testing, and soldering.
  • Proficient in programming languages: C, C++, C#, and Python.
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to lead technical projects.
  • Ability to perform mechanical design using CAD software.
  • Experience in designing and building IOT/IIOT sensors for various applications.
  • Ability to work in a start-up culture and support the core team to develop the organisation.
  • High attention to detail and quality orientation.
