About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Second Chef to join our team at Care UK. As a Second Chef, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, working closely with the Head Chef to prepare and serve high-quality meals to our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in menu planning, food preparation, and kitchen management
  • Take control of running the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef
  • Develop and implement new menu ideas, using fresh local produce and modern kitchen equipment
  • Consult with residents to ensure their dietary needs and preferences are met
  • Prepare food in line with specific diets and nutritional requirements
Requirements
  • Catering Diploma (City & Guilds/BTEC) and NVQ 2/3 in practical cookery and Health and Safety
  • Food Hygiene Certificates (minimum level 2)
  • Good knowledge of nutritionally balanced menu planning
  • Proven ability to cater for specific dietary needs
  • Experience of working in a care home environment, stock control, or working with a budget (desirable)
