Speech and Language Therapist (Band 6) Opportunity

Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our team in Whipps Cross Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, providing specialist assessment and treatment to adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties.

This role is part of our SLT Service, working as a band 6 SLT within a set cog rotation across the adult SLT Acute, Waltham Forest Community SLT team and Stroke teams. The post holder will be part of a team providing specialist assessment and treatment to adults in the inpatient and community settings, with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties.

The successful candidate will have:

  • At least 1 year's experience of working with adults with acquired communication & swallowing disorders
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing specialist assessment and treatment to adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties
  • Working as part of a team to develop and implement clinical pathways
  • Supervising band 5 SLTs and band 3 staff as required
  • Supporting student speech and language therapists on their placements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Good analytical and reflection skills
  • Well-developed concentration skills
  • Good presentation skills, both written and verbal
  • Good organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and to take initiative
  • Ability to acknowledge need for, and seek support
  • Ability to prioritise workload demands
  • Comprehensive IT skills
