The responsibilities of a Facilities Maintenance Technician encompass security management, logistical support, maintenance operations, health and safety compliance, driving duties, and sanitation tasks.
Salary: £24,500
Hours: Shift pattern from 7am-6pm
Key Responsibilities:
Security Management:
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of protocols for securing and unlocking all facilities, ensuring alarm systems are activated or deactivated as necessary while confirming that all non-essential lighting and equipment are turned off and windows are secured.
- Conduct regular patrols of the premises to enhance the physical security of all assets and provide a visible security presence.
- Oversee CCTV operations in accordance with data protection regulations, responding to incidents as needed and reporting any equipment issues while coordinating with law enforcement as required.
- Monitor the activities of visitors and contractors to safeguard the integrity of the building and its contents.
- Ensure that all fire and security alarms are operational at all times, reporting any deficiencies to the appropriate Team Leader and arranging for repairs or resets as necessary.
- Perform maintenance, decoration, and minor repairs on equipment, furniture, fixtures, and the building structure. Execute assigned maintenance tasks at designated locations as directed by the Estates & Facilities Managers.
- Where applicable, monitor equipment to ensure proper functioning, identifying faults and shutting down appliances when not in use.
- Ensure that all drainage systems, including gullies and gutters, are clear and functioning properly, maintaining cleanliness in drains and grease traps.
- Maintain all outdoor areas, including hard surfaces, grass, and pathways, ensuring they are clean and free of debris.
- Manage the cutting and maintenance of hedges and grass, control weed growth, and tend to flower and shrub beds.
- At applicable locations, uphold the cleanliness of artificial sports surfaces and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Facilitate safe movement by keeping entrances, roadways, and pathways clear of obstructions, and address any safety hazards during adverse weather conditions.
- Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of facilities during closures and outside contracted cleaning hours, addressing spillages, restocking supplies, and removing graffiti using appropriate methods.
- Provide logistical support between departments, ensuring that all received parcels are delivered accurately and signed for.
- Execute all online requests as directed by the Estates & Facilities Manager or Coordinator.
- Assist with office relocations as necessary.
- Manage the disposal of recycling and waste as required.
- Prepare rooms for various college activities, including events and examinations.
- Willingness to participate in relevant training.
- Desire to acquire basic health and safety knowledge.
- Fundamental understanding of operating within established procedures and guidelines.
- Possession of a current, clean, valid full driving license.
