Role Overview
Reporting to the Department Head and Construction Services Manager, the Ground Worker will play a vital role in ensuring that all ground works projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including laying paving slabs, installing fencing, constructing driveways and paths, and undertaking sewer pipe repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute a range of ground works projects, such as laying new or replacement paving slabs and fencing.
- Construct driveways, paths, and dropped kerbs using concrete or tarmac.
- Carry out underground sewer pipe repairs and maintenance.
- Contribute to general building fabric maintenance and equipment repair tasks as needed.
- Collaborate with external contractors to ensure project success.
- Implement appropriate waste management practices for all projects.
- Communicate effectively with clients, team members, and management.
- Adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize workloads in response to emergencies.
- Operate construction machinery, such as dumpers, excavators, scissor lifts, rough terrain forklifts, and telescopic handlers, where trained and qualified.
- Complete all necessary documentation, including risk assessments, work orders, requisitions, time sheets, and invoices.
- Maintain a safe and legally compliant working environment at all times.
- Utilize tools, plant, and materials safely, adhering to health and safety protocols and wearing provided personal protective equipment.
