Key Responsibilities

Theatre positions are suitable for both newly qualified and seasoned professionals. You will be part of a proficient team, gaining valuable experience. Candidates interested in pursuing a career in theatres will have the chance to develop a variety of relevant skills, supported by our dedicated education team and comprehensive educational strategy that promotes the development of all staff grades within theatres, facilitating career advancement.

Our theatres provide a nurturing learning environment, including preceptorship and supernumerary status while achieving competencies, with additional support during the initial phase of independent practice. We offer an in-house perioperative training course, assistance with revalidation, leadership development, and career progression opportunities. Experienced staff are encouraged to further enhance their skills through educational and experiential learning opportunities tailored to their career aspirations.

We have implemented shared governance, providing an excellent opportunity for professional growth and the ability to influence and implement changes within the departments. Additional continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities are available, including the PG Cert/Dip Advanced Perioperative Care, accredited by the University of Northampton and delivered within the Trust.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Registered Nurse (Part or 15 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council Register depending on area of practice), ODP HCPC registration, or National Certification in the relevant area of practice.
  • UK recognized Degree in Nursing relevant to the position or equivalent qualification for ODPs.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development through maintenance of NMC/HCPC revalidation.
  • Minimum of 2 years of registered nurse/ODP experience.
  • Evidence of achievement of an NMC approved Mentorship qualification.

Desirable Criteria

  • Post-graduate qualification related to the area of practice.
