Metering Systems Assurance Engineer

Siemens Energy Services is seeking a dedicated Metering Systems Assurance Test Engineer to join our team in Rochester, Kent on a fixed-term contract.

In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of metering systems within the electricity market reform scheme. Your responsibilities will encompass conducting both desk-based and on-site technical assurance audits, verifying adherence to governing documents and Capacity Market rules.

Your Impact:
  • Conduct thorough technical audits of metering systems for the capacity market, ensuring compliance with established regulations and guidelines.
  • Analyze single line diagrams, electrical schematics, and test certificates to verify the accuracy class, ratings, and error levels of metering equipment.
  • Calculate and validate errors in metering equipment, confirming accurate data recording through commissioning test results.
  • Determine and verify aggregation rules for metered volumes, ensuring precise data provision methods are implemented.
What We Look For:
  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK for the duration of the contract.
  • Demonstrated competence in interpreting single line diagrams and electrical schematics, ideally at an HNC or degree level.
  • A solid understanding of power systems and fundamental electrical concepts.
  • Flexibility to perform site work as required and the ability to meet deadlines set by Capacity Market rules.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accurate work.
  • Desirable: In-depth knowledge of metering principles and experience within the electricity metering industry. Familiarity with Elexon CoPs, Bespoke Technical Requirements, and Balancing Services agreements with National Grid.
