Our company has grown significantly, with 36 branches, 720 employees, and a turnover of £200 million. We operate across London and the South East of England, serving a wide range of customers.

The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced External Sales Representative to join our team. As a key member of our sales team, you will be responsible for managing and developing existing and new customer relationships, increasing branch sales and margins, and enhancing the customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and capture new sales opportunities
  • Help to exceed branch sales, margins, and gross profit
  • Respond positively and effectively to customer needs
  • Agree the best possible margin when negotiating with customers in line with ledger budgets and KPIs
  • Cultivate and maintain exceptional standards of customer service and ensure Lawsons' best practice, standards, and company policies are met
  • Act as the link between your branch and your customers
  • Deal with customer complaints effectively, pleasantly, and in a timely manner
  • Be vigilant to prevent fraud
  • Report any health and safety issues to the line manager immediately
Requirements

We are looking for someone with:

  • Previous external sales experience in a builders' merchant (essential)

Additionally, you should:

  • Demonstrate a positive, friendly, and stable attitude
  • Be prepared to develop a knowledge of the company, its products, and the elements required to be successfully employed in the business
  • Promote and adhere to the company's cultures, values, and professionalism
  • Have good interpersonal skills, be confident, and able to approach customers
  • Have excellent communicating, influencing, and negotiating skills, both oral and written
  • Be able to prioritize responsibilities under pressure and be self-motivated
  • Have the confidence to cold call existing and prospective customers
  • Have knowledge, experience, and qualifications in sales, industry, and product knowledge, driving license, and good IT skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
