About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Fusion Technologist (Simulation & Software) to join our team at the UK Atomic Energy Authority. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in developing high-fidelity simulation & software codes for the design and optimization of digital-physical systems.
Key Responsibilities- Implement novel solutions to scientific and engineering challenges through the development of new simulation & software tools coupled with physical experiments.
- Work with a multi-disciplinary team to enable the translation of digital-physical systems into engineering practice.
- Represent UKAEA at international conferences as well as at technical meetings and functions as required.
- Produce high-impact output, including delivery of talks at major conferences and publishing peer-reviewed papers.
- Doctoral degree in engineering, computer science, applied mathematics, physical science or equivalent experience in a structured research environment.
- Excellent collaborative skills with the ability to share complex technical ideas clearly and simply across disciplines.
- Practical experience in one or more computational engineering fields such as finite element analysis (FEA), computational fluid mechanics (CFD), Monte-Carlo methods or computational electromagnetics.
- Experience running and controlling simulations from the command line using software specific scripting languages or other scripting languages.
- Proficiency in one scripting language (e.g. Python, Matlab, Julia, R, etc.) for analysis and visualisation of data.
- Familiarity with coding, testing, and documenting best practices, including version control systems like Git.
- Experience with the command line and the Linux/UNIX operating system or Windows Subsystem for Linux.
