Job Title: Graduate Design Engineer

We are representing an engineering business in Wakefield that requires a Graduate Design Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and Development: Develop and design innovative mechanical systems and components using Solid Works software. Create detailed 2D and 3D engineering drawings for acoustic enclosures and models based on specifications and requirements. Perform engineering calculations to support design decisions and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Develop prototypes of designed components and systems. Conduct tests and simulations to validate designs and identify potential improvements. Analyse test results and iterate on designs to enhance performance and reliability.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of designs into production. Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and technicians. Prepare and present design proposals, progress reports, and technical documentation to stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery within budget constraints. Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to source materials and components. Monitor project progress and address any issues or delays promptly.

Requirements:
  • Educated to HNC or similar in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience using a CAD software
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively
