Job Title: Behaviour Mentor

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to provide support to our secondary students who have previously struggled in mainstream schools.

About the Role
  • Provide individualized support to students who have struggled in mainstream schools, helping them stay engaged and motivated.
  • Utilize your experience with PRU settings to manage and respond to challenging behaviors effectively.
  • Apply your understanding of trauma-informed practices to support students with compassion and sensitivity.
  • De-escalate potential conflicts and challenging situations calmly and professionally.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help them feel comfortable and supported in their learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure support for each student.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized learning plans tailored to each student's needs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support students with behavioral issues and trauma, providing a safe and nurturing environment for them to thrive.
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to develop and implement effective strategies for supporting students.
  • Provide individualized support to students, helping them to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.
Requirements
  • Proven experience working with secondary students in PRU settings or similar environments.
  • Strong understanding of the challenges faced by students with behavioral issues and trauma.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use initiative and adapt to the needs of each student.
  • Resilience, patience, and a positive attitude towards overcoming challenges.
