Technical Quality & Continuous Improvement Manager

We are seeking a skilled Technical Quality & Continuous Improvement Manager to join our team. This pivotal role is responsible for leading the Technical Department, ensuring quality standards are met while developing and executing a Continuous Improvement Strategy. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in fostering a culture of sustainable transformation by implementing Lean methodologies to achieve business excellence.

Key Responsibilities

General Duties

  • Oversee the Technical department focusing on Development & Innovation, Quality Assurance, Compliance, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Technical to set and achieve departmental objectives.
  • Drive strategic Continuous Improvement initiatives for the organization.
  • Build relationships across sites to promote cost-saving strategies.
  • Maintain and enhance existing quality standards.
  • Manage Time and Attendance systems effectively.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives

  • Identify and implement improvement projects across the organization using innovative methodologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to cultivate a continuous improvement environment.
  • Lead workshops focused on LEAN and process improvement to generate actionable ideas.
  • Enhance efficiency by simplifying business processes and identifying better operational practices.
  • Establish a continuous improvement monitoring system to track trends and variations.
  • Support the creation of a 'best-in-class' continuous improvement strategy.
  • Manage change initiatives from identification through to successful implementation.
  • Conduct thorough analysis and engage with staff to drive process changes.
  • Develop new support materials in collaboration with team members and business services.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Ensure business impacts and project objectives are consistently monitored and managed.
  • Deliver coaching and manage project execution.
  • Conduct post-implementation reviews to assess project success and identify areas for future improvement.

Quality Management

  • Administer the Quality Management System to uphold ISO 9001 standards and implement necessary procedural updates.
  • Assist operational teams in enhancing performance through a structured Continuous Improvement Program.
  • Report on quality metrics and provide insights during production meetings.
  • Utilize analytical tools to identify key Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Engage with suppliers to resolve quality-related issues.
  • Collaborate with the Brands Quality Manager to address and rectify quality concerns.
  • Manage quality metrics in alignment with established KPIs.
  • Act as the primary contact for customer complaints.

Success Metrics

  • Transition towards Lean Manufacturing practices across the organization.
  • Facilitate multi-functional teams in delivering improvement projects.
  • Implement cost-saving measures and track savings effectively.
  • Increase training and development opportunities in continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Standardize best practices across all operations.
  • Enhance the capabilities of the production management team to utilize continuous improvement tools.
  • Maintain all existing quality standards.
  • Continuously reduce overall quality costs.

Qualifications and Experience

Educational Background:

A Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Quality Management, or a related technical field is typically required. A Master's Degree in Business Administration or a related discipline is preferred.

Certifications such as Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt), Lean Manufacturing, or Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001) are desirable. Certification as a Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) is an advantage.

Professional Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years in quality management, continuous improvement, or technical management roles, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering context.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing continuous improvement initiatives that resulted in measurable enhancements in quality, efficiency, or cost reductions.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and driving quality assurance processes.

Technical Proficiencies:

  • Comprehensive understanding of quality management systems, including ISO 9001 and relevant industry standards.
  • Proficient in statistical process control, root cause analysis, and other quality control techniques.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and the ability to analyze and enhance production systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills utilizing methodologies such as DMAIC, PDCA, and FMEA.
  • Experience with technical documentation and compliance within the industry.

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities to effectively manage teams and engage with stakeholders.
  • Project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and monitor multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Expertise in change management to guide teams through process improvements.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality in all work aspects.
  • Proficient in relationship management and possess strong business acumen.
