Our dedicated Risk Consulting team delivers services across our strategic markets:

  • Public Sector: We offer unique audit and advisory services across six key areas: local government, central government, health and social care, housing, and charities.
  • Financial Sector: As one of the largest providers of Risk Assurance services to the financial industry, we collaborate with numerous banks, insurance firms, and asset management companies, including both publicly traded and privately held entities.
  • Industry & Services: Our clientele primarily consists of private sector organizations, ranging from large multinational corporations to small, owner-operated businesses across various sectors in the UK and internationally.
Role Overview

Your primary responsibility will be to deliver proactive, high-quality, and value-driven programme and project advisory, audit, and assurance services to our Public Service clients.

This position will mainly involve coordinating and managing the daily delivery of various programme and project assurance services to clients, ensuring adherence to quality standards and timelines. Additionally, you will play a vital role in business development and contribute to the training and development of the broader team.

Our team has experienced significant growth in recent years and is well-positioned for further expansion, offering strong opportunities for advancement for successful candidates. You will also be expected to contribute to the overall success of the Risk Consulting service line and assist in its ongoing improvement.

While remote work is currently the norm, on-site engagements may be necessary in the future as circumstances evolve. This role can be performed remotely, with travel required based on client and business needs.

We will support the successful candidate in their pursuit of a Project Management Qualification.

You will report to the Assistant Manager overseeing Project and Programme Assurance for Public Services within Risk Consulting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and support the overall work programme for Programme and Project Assurance for Public Service clients.
  • Plan and execute fieldwork, including conducting closing meetings with the management team.
  • Prepare draft reports.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients.
  • Assist with special assignments as needed.
  • Provide on-the-job training and supervision for junior team members.
  • Organize tasks and responsibilities based on the needs and skills of those under supervision.
  • Manage assignments from planning through to the preparation of draft reports, adhering to agreed timelines.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, addressing any issues or requests promptly.
  • Maintain composure and control under pressure while recognizing deadlines and urgency.
  • Respond effectively to the needs of clients and team members.
  • Deliver clear and confident presentations of service features and benefits to clients.
  • Ensure that services provided are genuinely suitable for the client.
  • Identify opportunities for new business.
  • Uphold standards and procedures maintained by the entire team.
  • Provide constructive feedback for team member performance evaluations.
  • Produce high-quality work in line with the Firm's policies and processes, meeting relevant regulatory requirements.
Candidate Profile
  • Experience in project and programme management or working within a PMO.
  • Experience delivering reviews in the Public Services sector.
  • Strong understanding of relevant frameworks and guidelines, including HM Treasury The Green Book and HM Government Functional Standard GovS 002.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client management skills.
  • Experience in managing, training, and mentoring junior staff.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation abilities.
  • Proactively seeks to enhance expertise and knowledge.
  • Ability to develop new initiatives and methodologies.
  • Capable of identifying issues through sound analysis and applying commercial acumen in various situations.
  • Willingness to assist, share experiences, provide meaningful feedback, and support the development of others.
  • Takes ownership of projects, effectively delegates tasks within the team, and ensures quality control.
  • Begins to establish a network of client contacts and connections in the broader market.
