Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Materials Management Specialist to enhance our team at Unipart Rail. Reporting directly to the Procurement Operations Team Leader, you will oversee all facets of the material control process, delivering outstanding support to our manufacturing teams by guaranteeing that materials are efficiently planned and supplied to fulfill customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the timely delivery of critical products to manufacturing and supply chain solutions, including those sourced internally.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders, including participation in production meetings.
  • Enhance and maintain high levels of internal customer satisfaction.
  • Address and resolve issues related to receipt discrepancies, non-conformance, and other warehouse, supplier, or financial matters.
  • Foster strong partnerships with key suppliers and drive improvements within your scope of work.
  • Meet specific performance targets set by Unipart Rail, aligning with customer expectations regarding production schedules, supplier delivery metrics, inventory management, and order processing.
  • Continuously monitor supplier delivery performance and proactively address any issues using established improvement methodologies.
  • Develop and refine internal processes to minimize waste and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with strategic procurement and inventory teams to ensure robust supplier relationships and maintain optimal inventory levels in SAP.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A level qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience in material control within a manufacturing context.
  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, presentation, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, with a systematic and logical approach to analysis.
  • Proficient IT skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with SAP/MRP systems.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the rail industry, both in the UK and internationally.
