Position Overview
We are seeking applications for the role of Oncology Specialty Physician at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust. This position presents a remarkable opportunity for a medical professional eager to advance their career in the field of Oncology. Candidates must possess full registration with the General Medical Council and have a minimum of 12 months of experience in internal medicine. Experience in Oncology is advantageous but not mandatory. We welcome applications from international candidates, and the Trust is prepared to sponsor the tier 2 visa application for successful applicants if necessary.
This role serves as a replacement to enhance the existing team of Specialty Physicians in Oncology at our facilities.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will join a team of seven physicians and an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, contributing to a new operational model that provides ward coverage across multiple sites. This includes a 1:4 weekend on-call commitment. The role involves delivering daily care to oncology inpatients and overseeing the work of trainee doctors, conducting daily ward rounds both independently and in collaboration with Consultants.
We encourage and support selected candidates to enroll in the MSc course in Oncology offered at Nottingham for further professional development.
Successful candidates will also be responsible for managing patients involved in ongoing departmental clinical trials related to chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
The job plan includes a basic PA indicative along with additional allowances for travel between sites.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in the English language and possess strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team to deliver comprehensive oncology services.
The Trust will facilitate the work permit application for successful candidates. However, candidates must be registered with the GMC or be eligible for registration.
Travel between hospital locations will be a requirement of this role.
