Position Overview

As the Chief Business Officer (CBO) for our UK Commercial sales divisions, you will lead initiatives to enhance revenue and strategic expansion within the UK market. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, EMEA, and collaborating closely with the Global Chief Business Officer for Advertising Revenue, you will manage a team of Heads of Industry and oversee the development and implementation of innovative commercial strategies tailored for the UK market. Utilizing insights and digital proficiency, you will drive efforts to foster cross-platform revenue growth through consumer behavior analysis, trend identification, and a comprehensive understanding of competitive landscapes.

This role is pivotal in shaping targeted marketing strategies, optimizing product offerings, and devising sales initiatives that enhance engagement and boost revenue. Success in this position demands agility in adapting to evolving market dynamics and audience preferences, ensuring a competitive advantage and sustained growth.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with the Managing Director, EMEA, the Global Chief Business Officer of Advertising Revenue, and other senior executives to effectively execute global strategies in the UK market.
  2. Drive revenue enhancement by transforming existing sales strategies and implementing innovative approaches across all platforms, with a strong emphasis on digital.
  3. Lead a senior team of Heads of Industry, each responsible for key verticals including Fashion, Beauty & Luxury, Travel, Home and BizFiTech, Media, Entertainment & Auto.
  4. Promote a cohesive and strategic sales methodology across the senior leadership team to effectively increase revenue across verticals and within the market.
  5. Ensure that the Commercial sales teams maintain a strong focus on data analysis to establish team and individual KPIs.
  6. Elevate the overall commercial sales function, setting new standards for excellence and performance.
  7. Develop new client and agency relationships while strengthening existing partnerships to enhance renewal rates and accelerate new business opportunities.
  8. Build robust relationships with Editorial and Creative teams to ensure content alignment and successful cross-platform program execution.
  9. Establish collaborative working relationships with global stakeholders.
  10. Work effectively with Editorial leadership to deliver profitable and high-quality events, creating new opportunities across our brands while aligning with the brands' creative vision.
  11. Foster talent development and cultivate a culture of collaboration, performance, respect, and excellence.
  12. Inspire teams to streamline processes and improve efficiency to deliver innovative solutions for clients.
Essential Qualifications
  1. Demonstrated experience leading a commercial sales function within the media sector.
  2. Extensive experience in commercial revenue generation with a proven track record of successfully transforming and driving revenue across all platforms in a global context.
  3. Experience in diversifying revenue streams and launching new products.
  4. Proven leadership skills with a commitment to people management and a history of establishing high-performing commercial teams across all platforms, particularly in digital.
  5. A creative and inspirational leader who fosters an inclusive and empowering environment.
  6. Experience working on a global scale to shape and implement commercial strategies within media and publishing.
  7. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to navigate a matrix structure and collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders across various markets and functions.
