Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Heavy Vehicle Technician to join our team at CRA GROUP LIMITED. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the Council's fleet of vehicles and equipment are in good working order.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, repair, and service a wide range of vehicles and equipment, including refuse collection vehicles, sweepers, tippers, and agricultural equipment.
  • Carry out MOT tests and retests on class 4, 5, and 7 vehicles.
  • Conduct taxi tests to meet the standards set by Bromsgrove and Redditch Councils.
  • Navigate the districts and attend breakdowns, undertaking necessary repairs or facilitating vehicle recovery to the depot.
  • Work a split shift arrangement if required to meet service needs.
  • Be prepared to work from either of our two workshops as needed.
  • Cover periods of leave and sickness within the workshop, as well as work bank holidays when front-line staff are working.
  • Be available to provide cover during emergency works, winter maintenance, and special events as required.
  • Work flexibly to cover service needs, working 37 hours per week, between 6:30am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Train staff to carry out minor repairs and basic maintenance of plant and machinery, monitoring work to ensure it meets necessary standards.
  • Investigate and deal with customer enquiries.
  • Act on own initiative with regard to workload and work prioritization.
  • Liaise with contractors as needed.
  • Drive vehicles up to 26 tonnes (LGV).

Requirements:

  • Experience in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures.
  • Ability to work flexibly and cover shifts as needed.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid LGV license.
