Job OverviewFinance Manager
Are you a seasoned Finance Manager with a background in the construction sector seeking a new opportunity? This role could be an excellent fit for you.
Based in a tranquil office environment, our company, Alexander Fisher, is in search of a professional to lead a Finance Team of two, directly reporting to the Finance Director. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in finance management or bookkeeping, complemented by a personable demeanor and the ability to thrive in a construction office setting. Familiarity with CIS and payroll processes is essential to provide coverage during absences in the payroll department.
Key Responsibilities
  • Overseeing the management of both purchase and sales/payroll ledgers.
  • Reviewing payroll and subcontractor payment processes.
  • Handling cashbook processing, bank reconciliations, and cash allocation control.
  • Assisting with data processing as needed.
  • Ensuring data integrity throughout financial operations.
  • Managing month-end ledger closures and validations according to established timelines.
  • Submitting and reconciling HMRC returns, including PAYE, NI, VAT, and CIS.
  • Maintaining hire purchase files and agreements.
  • Implementing enhancements to reporting and processing for a more efficient workflow.
  • Recording purchase invoices and transitioning to an electronic purchase ledger system.
  • Managing daily office operations.
  • Performing additional ad hoc tasks as required.
  • Organizing and maintaining personnel records.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated experience as a Finance Manager or in a similar role.
  • Proficient in financial systems and applications.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A degree or qualification in financial management or a related field is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Prior experience in the construction industry is beneficial but not essential.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Experience with SAGE 200 and Line 50 is preferred.

Salary Range: £30,000 - £40,000 based on experience
