About the Role

ME+EM Ltd is seeking an experienced Garment Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for ensuring the technical accuracy of our garments, from prototype to production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the design team in creating accurate 1st prototype specs and packs for the supply base.
  • Contribute to fit sessions, providing technical advice to design and buying teams.
  • Liaise with designers and buyers to ensure alterations or comments do not affect price, quantity, or critical path.
  • Ensure proto, fit, and gold seals meet specifications and brand standards.
  • Communicate specifications, amendments, and size charts to the supply base.
  • Deal with queries from the supply base and liaise with buyers when supplier suggestions or requests affect price or critical path.
  • Ensure garments are viable for production from a cost and quality perspective.
  • Regularly consult the critical path to ensure deadlines are met and inform the line manager where this is not possible.
  • Ensure test reports are conducted for all cloth, yarn, interlining, trim, and artwork at the proto stage.
  • Request bulk tests and garment testing to ensure quality and costs are considered.
  • Conduct wearer trials for new fabrics, high-risk styles, and details, and take action accordingly.
  • Visit the supply base as required to develop and support new suppliers.
Additional Tasks
  • Make regular scheduled visits to the warehouse to support and train the team in identifying poor quality, poor manufacture, and customer abuse.
  • Make regular, scheduled shop visits to support and train the team in identifying trends and retailers specified by design and buying teams.
  • Review the monthly quality returns report and take action when necessary.
  • Coordinate and conduct a fit review per season to ensure the brand's fit is correct and consistent.
  • Contribute to the annual evaluation of the supply base (SWOT).
  • Prioritize own workload in line with meetings schedule and critical path.
  • Build and maintain good working and professional relationships with head office, store, and warehouse teams.
