ECO Magazine is seeking a highly skilled Senior Ecologist to join our team as a Marine Fish Expert. As a key member of our science division, you will play a critical role in delivering marine fish ecology research and advice to support Scotland's drive towards NetZero.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct applied research to address key knowledge gaps in marine fish ecology and provide scientific advice to support policy development and licensing of marine renewable energy projects.
- Collaborate with universities and research institutes to commission research contracts and co-supervise Ph.D. students.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including NatureScot, JNCC, academia, consultants, and industry.
- Represent the Scottish Government and the Marine Directorate at national and international forums.
- Ph.D. in marine fish ecology or a related field.
- Proven track record in marine fish ecology research and an ability to critique scientific methods and results.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain scientific concepts to varied audiences.
- Ability to work independently with good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work and manage projects.
