Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) is pleased to announce a rewarding opportunity for a Vehicle Technician (2x Workshop, 2x Mobile) and Auto Electrician (Workshop) to become a vital part of our team.
This position is offered on a full-time, permanent basis, with a competitive salary range of £35,026 - £39,508 per annum, in addition to a £500 annual tool allowance and a standby/on-call allowance of £6,909 for mobile vehicle technicians.
As a member of KFRS, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our fleet of vehicles, ensuring they are operational and ready to respond to emergencies across the region.
Our fleet consists of specialized vehicles, and you will be responsible for servicing and maintaining them to the highest industry standards.
Your duties will include:
- Ensuring the operational readiness of all vehicles and equipment, adhering to manufacturer maintenance and repair guidelines.
- Completing and maintaining necessary documentation and electronic records, including inspection logs and repair details.
- Managing local parts inventory to facilitate effective service delivery.
Some roles may require participation in an established standby/on-call duty roster to ensure that our operational fleet is maintained outside of regular hours, providing essential support to the community.
You will collaborate with Fleet and Equipment Services to align with departmental objectives and operational needs.
Requirements for this position include:
- A valid Large Goods Vehicle (LGV C1/HGV) and manual driving license.
- Experience or the ability to quickly adapt to the specific demands of fire service vehicle operations.
- Preferably, experience with manufacturer training in Volvo, Scania, Mercedes, or Iveco.
- Accredited level 4 in diagnosis, testing, and repair of internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid, and electric vehicles, or the capability to achieve this standard through formal assessment.
- Proven experience in a complex, multi-demand fleet technician environment.
