Position Overview
We are looking for dedicated Mammography Radiographers (both full-time and part-time opportunities available) to join our esteemed team.
Employment Band: Band 5/6 (commensurate with experience)
This role is part of our Breast Test Wales initiative, which is responsible for the planning, execution, management, and assessment of the NHS Breast Screening Programme across Wales. Our Swansea division is home to a skilled team of 26 Mammographic professionals, including Advanced Practitioners, Radiographers, and Assistant Practitioners.
We invite applications from both seasoned professionals and newly qualified Radiographers eager to pursue a career in breast screening. Experienced candidates will be appointed according to their current pay scale, while newly qualified Radiographers will start at Band 5. Our facilities include a static screening suite and assessment clinic, along with three Mobile Screening Units that deliver local screening services.
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be expected to either possess or work towards a postgraduate MSc module in Mammography. The role involves travel to various locations, including mobile units, which may require overnight stays. Newly qualified Radiographers will need to complete at least 12 months of service before commencing the postgraduate module, after which they will be eligible for an upgrade to Band 6. Participation in scheduled weekend shifts may also be necessary to meet service demands.
Our organization actively promotes advanced practice, providing established pathways for Radiographers to progress to Advanced Practitioners or Consultant Radiographers based on service requirements.
